Abortion: A Woman’s Right To Life

Posted by beast_686 on Feb 15th, 2006

Abortion is often a subject of controversy amongst various religious and political groups. The reason I wish to bring up this issue, is the amount of bad press this simple medical procedure receives, from Religious Rights conservatives (mostly Christians) and certain right wing politicians (E.g the American Republicans).

The definition of abortion, according to the Oxford’s dictionary: • noun 1 the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy. 2 the natural expulsion of a fetus from the womb before it is able to survive independently. Continue Reading »

No Bravery

Posted by beast_686 on Feb 15th, 2006

(Lyrics by James Blunt Link to video here)

There are children standing here,
Arms outstretched into the sky,
Tears drying on their face.
He has been here.
Brothers lie in shallow graves.
Fathers lost without a trace.
A nation blind to their disgrace,
Since he’s been here.
And I see no bravery,
No bravery in your eyes anymore.
Only sadness.
Houses burnt beyond repair.
The smell of death is in the air.
A woman weeping in despair says,
He has been here.
Tracer lighting up the sky.
It’s another families’ turn to die.
A child afraid to even cry out says,
He has been here.
And I see no bravery,
No bravery in your eyes anymore.
Only sadness.
There are children standing here,
Arms outstretched into the sky,
But no one asks the question why,
He has been here.
Old men kneel and accept their fate.
Wives and daughters cut and raped.
A generation drenched in hate.
Yes, he has been here.
And I see no bravery,
No bravery in your eyes anymore.
Only sadness.

The Mob

Posted by kapanalig_sa_wala on Feb 10th, 2006

Much has been said and written about the tragedy that happened in the PhilSports stadium which claimed the lives of more than 70 people, mostly women. It again highlights the slowly developing Philippine phenomenon that Michael Tan wrote about in the inq7 the other day - the unruly mob. We have seen this happen many times in the past including the one that installed our current truth-evading president into her stolen presidency, before she stole it again a second time. Don’t get me wrong, I am not pro-Erap but there must be a safer, more rational way to remove a bad president and install a worse one- talk about collective masochism. Anyway, about the mob, we can see this in a daily basis that we are now immune to it or fail to recognize it. One only step outside the house and try to cross a busy street. One gets the idea but we all seem to shrug it off as normal. There is a more dangerous mob within our midst and it’s scheming leaders are trying to pull our legs, they want to change our constitution so they can milk our malnourished cow dead. Be afraid.
